Sue Sterling-Bur

Sue Sterling-Bur is from the Nłeʔkepmx and Stó:lō Nations and currently serves as the Manager, Strategy and Operations, Indigenous Initiatives at UBC Okanagan. She holds an Early Childhood Diploma and a Master of Social Work and is a PhD candidate (ABD). Her doctoral research focuses on Indigenous perspectives on education and support for children with differences and disabilities, drawing from the rich narratives of Nłeʔkepmx Sptékʷł and Spíləx̣m. Through her work, Sterling-Bur aims to uncover the ethical frameworks, values and traditional knowledge that inform effective approaches to supporting Indigenous individuals with disabilities. Sterling-Bur is the co-lead of the Working with Indigenous Communities research theme at the Canadian Institute for Inclusion and Citizenship.
