Mental Health Among Adults with Intellectual Disabilities
This project is being done in partnership with Community Living British Columbia (CLBC). We want to learn about the mental health experiences of adults with intellectual disabilities across British Columbia.
We will talk with self-advocates about their experiences and what has helped or made things harder. What we learn will help improve policies, services, and supports for adults with intellectual disabilities across the province.
Project Team: Rachelle Hole, Rae Morris, Michelle Goos (CLBC), David Johnson (CLBC). Emma Lyon (UBC MSW student).
Adults with intellectual disabilities are more likely to experience mental health challenges than other adults. However, many people do not get the mental health care and support they need. This can make mental health challenges more common and more serious.
